A diferencia de etapas anteriores, el proceso fue m\u00e1s pausado: jornadas que comenzaban por la tarde, fines de semana libres y un enfoque menos ca\u00f3tico. Como se\u00f1al\u00f3 el guitarrista, <strong>Albert Hammond Jr.<\/strong> para Mondo Sonoro, esta vez todo se hizo <strong>\u201ccon mucha m\u00e1s calma\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-text-subtitle has-accent-1-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-2 is-style-text-subtitle--2 wp-block-paragraph\">Las capas de los anormal<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The New Abnormal no busca atrapar de inmediato. Su apertura <strong>\u201cThe Adults Are Talking\u201d<\/strong> enga\u00f1a con un tono liviano y accesible, pero a medida que avanza el disco, la atm\u00f3sfera se vuelve m\u00e1s densa y melanc\u00f3lica.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Esa transici\u00f3n refleja una idea central: <strong>la convivencia entre el entusiasmo del regreso y los fantasmas del pasado. <\/strong>Es un \u00e1lbum que se revela con el tiempo, donde cada escucha permite descubrir nuevas capas.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Aqu\u00ed no est\u00e1 la urgencia de <strong>\u201cThe Modern Age\u201d<\/strong> ni la energ\u00eda cruda de <strong>\u201cReptilia\u201d<\/strong>. En su lugar, hay canciones que superan los cinco minutos y una banda que parece m\u00e1s interesada en el recorrido que en el impacto inmediato.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Esta versi\u00f3n de <strong>The Strokes<\/strong> apuesta por una construcci\u00f3n m\u00e1s arm\u00f3nica, menos disruptiva pero m\u00e1s rica en matices. Es una evoluci\u00f3n que puede desconcertar, pero tambi\u00e9n evidencia madurez en su sonido.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Canciones como <strong>\u201cAt the Door\u201d<\/strong> marcan un quiebre claro. Con una instrumentaci\u00f3n m\u00ednima, pr\u00e1cticamente un sintetizador y la voz de Julian Casablancas, el tema se aleja radicalmente de lo que hist\u00f3ricamente defini\u00f3 a la banda.\u00a0Algo similar ocurre con <strong>\u201cNot the Same Anymore\u201d<\/strong>, donde no hay apuro por llegar al estribillo. Todo fluye lentamente, con riffs melanc\u00f3licos que refuerzan una sensaci\u00f3n contemplativa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-text-subtitle has-accent-1-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-3 is-style-text-subtitle--3 wp-block-paragraph\">La nueva voz de Casablancas<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El cambio no es solo sonoro. Las letras abandonan las narrativas de fiesta, excesos y superficialidad para dar paso a una mirada m\u00e1s introspectiva.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En este LP <strong>Casablancas<\/strong> canta sobre luchas invisibles y l\u00edmites emocionales, el vocalista explora entre sus sensaciones de vac\u00edo y desconexi\u00f3n: amistades que se van o emociones que ya no se sienten igual.\u00a0Asimismo, tras experiencias como <strong>\u201cInstant Crush\u201d <\/strong>con<strong> Daft Punk<\/strong>, su rango vocal muestra nuevos matices. En <strong>\u201cSelfless\u201d<\/strong> alcanza notas altas con claridad, mientras que en <strong>\u201cEternal Summer\u201d <\/strong>recurre a falsetes cada vez m\u00e1s s\u00f3lidos, consolidando una identidad propia como cantante.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-text-subtitle has-accent-1-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-4 is-style-text-subtitle--4 wp-block-paragraph\">Lo moderno de lo nost\u00e1lgico<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El disco funciona tambi\u00e9n como una reinterpretaci\u00f3n del sonido neoyorquino de los a\u00f1os 80. Hay ecos de la <strong>new wave<\/strong> y el <strong>post-punk<\/strong> en toda la obra, dialogando con influencias como<strong> Television<\/strong>,<strong> Blondie<\/strong> o <strong>Talking Heads<\/strong>.\u00a0La portada refuerza esta idea: una reproducci\u00f3n de <strong>Bird on Money<\/strong> de<strong> Jean-Michel Basquiat<\/strong>, que encapsula visualmente esa mezcla entre arte, ciudad y reinterpretaci\u00f3n del pasado.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-text-subtitle has-accent-1-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-5 is-style-text-subtitle--5 wp-block-paragraph\">Entre el lanzamiento y el aislamiento<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El t\u00edtulo del \u00e1lbum adquiri\u00f3 un significado inesperado con la llegada del COVID-19. <strong>\u201cEs muy, muy raro todo\u2026 y el t\u00edtulo encaja extra\u00f1amente bien con el momento\u201d<\/strong>, coment\u00f3 <strong>Albert Hammond Jr.<\/strong> durante la promoci\u00f3n.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A pesar de la pandemia y la imposibilidad de girar, la banda decidi\u00f3 no retrasar el lanzamiento.<strong> \u201cNo parec\u00eda que valiera la pena posponerlo\u201d<\/strong>, dijo Casablancas, restando importancia a la falta de conciertos como parte del ciclo tradicional de promoci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Finalmente, para la propia banda, el disco representa algo m\u00e1s que un regreso. <strong>Hammond Jr. lo defini\u00f3 incluso como \u201cun nuevo principio\u201d<\/strong> y no dud\u00f3 en afirmar que podr\u00eda ser su mejor trabajo en a\u00f1os.\u00a0Aunque el propio <strong>Casablancas<\/strong> sit\u00faa sus primeros discos por encima en su ranking personal,<strong> The New Abnormal <\/strong>demuestra que<strong> The Strokes <\/strong>no se limita a su legado.
