Una obra que le dio elegancia al enojo, iron\u00eda al dolor, y una guitarra brillante a las tardes grises de Inglaterra. Con Morrissey recitando a Selby Jr. y Johnny Marr en su punto m\u00e1s creativo, <strong><em>The Queen Is Dead<\/em> transform\u00f3 la angustia juvenil en arte pop<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Muerte simb\u00f3lica y apertura sin filtros<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El disco arranca con la canci\u00f3n hom\u00f3nima, <strong>una s\u00e1tira directa a la monarqu\u00eda brit\u00e1nica<\/strong>. Morrissey se pone en modo f\u00fanebre pero teatral: abre con una cita a <em>Last Exit to Brooklyn<\/em> y dispara contra las instituciones con una mezcla de tragedia y sarcasmo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Las guitarras de Marr, cargadas de distorsi\u00f3n y la bater\u00eda marcial de Mike Joyce marcan el tono: <strong>esto no va a ser un paseo amable<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Un guitarrista de 22 a\u00f1os al mando<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Si Morrissey escrib\u00eda como si fuera un personaje literario, <strong>Johnny Marr compon\u00eda como un director de cine<\/strong>. Se encarg\u00f3 de casi todos los instrumentos y texturas, construyendo atm\u00f3sferas con capas de guitarra, teclados y efectos. Su estilo jangle pop nunca son\u00f3 tan claro como en <strong>&#8220;Cemetry Gates&#8221;<\/strong> o <strong>&#8220;The Boy with the Thorn in His Side&#8221;<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Durante la grabaci\u00f3n &#8211; entre julio de 1985 y abril de 1986, en estudios de Londres y Farnham -, <strong>Marr y el productor Stephen Street probaron t\u00e9cnicas poco ortodoxas<\/strong>. Por ejemplo, en &#8220;Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others&#8221;, Morrissey pidi\u00f3 que su voz sonara &#8220;como viniendo desde otra habitaci\u00f3n&#8221;. Y as\u00ed lo hicieron: el fade in de la intro fue idea de Street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others (2011 Remaster)\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/C906lbkcYug?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Una portada, un actor franc\u00e9s y un disco sin sencillos<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El rostro de la tapa es del actor <strong>Alais Delon<\/strong>, en una escena de la pel\u00edcula <em>L&#8217;Insoumis<\/em> (1964), Morrissey  &#8211; fan del cine europeo y de Delon &#8211;  pidi\u00f3 personalmente usar la imagen y Delon autoriz\u00f3 el uso solo despu\u00e9s de escuchar el disco completo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Y aunque parezca incre\u00edble,<em> <\/em><strong><em>The Queen Is Dead <\/em>no tuvo sencillos oficiales en 1986<\/strong>. Canciones como <strong>&#8220;There\u00b4s A Light That Never Goes Out&#8221;<\/strong> o <strong>&#8220;Bigmouth Strikes Again&#8221;<\/strong> fueron lanzadas reci\u00e9n en reediciones posteriores. A\u00fan as\u00ed, <strong>el disco fue un \u00e9xito inmediato<\/strong> entre la cr\u00edtica y en los charts del Reino Unido.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Queen Is Dead: entre el sarcasmo y la desesperaci\u00f3n<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&#8220;I Know It\u00b4s Over&#8221; es probablemente una de las canciones m\u00e1s duras que escribi\u00f3 Morrissey<\/strong>. Era a\u00fan m\u00e1s provocador, pero lo cambiaron a \u00faltima hora. De todos modos, la intenci\u00f3n estaba clara: <strong>ni la reina se salvaba<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&#8220;There&#8217;s is a Light That Never Goes Out&#8221;<\/strong> fue escrita casi al final del proceso. La melod\u00eda tiene algo de <strong>The Velvet Underground<\/strong> y algo de chanson franc\u00e9s. La letra, con su mezcla de romanticismo fatal y entrega absoluta, <strong>se convirti\u00f3 en un himno para millones<\/strong>: &#8220;to die by your side is such a heavenly way to die&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nunca fue single en su momento, pero con los a\u00f1os se transform\u00f3 en la canci\u00f3n m\u00e1s querida del grupo. Las tensiones ya estaban al l\u00edmite durante la gira de promoci\u00f3n.
