Y Manchester, en alg\u00fan momento entre los ochenta y noventa, fue el epicentro de un estallido que dur\u00f3 poco, pero que a\u00fan retumba en la historia: <strong>el sonido <em>Madchester<\/em><\/strong>. Un cruce in\u00e9dito entre pop psicod\u00e9lico, house y actitud callejera, que fue devorado por la misma industria que lo impuls\u00f3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-text-subtitle has-custom-color-1-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-1 is-style-text-subtitle--1\">El fen\u00f3meno del Madchester<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El sonido <em>Madchester<\/em> fue un puente entre el post punk sombr\u00edo de principios de los ochenta y la explosi\u00f3n colorida del britpop en los noventa. Su chispa naci\u00f3 cuando la m\u00fasica house aterriz\u00f3 en Reino Unido, trasladando al indie rock hacia terrenos m\u00e1s electr\u00f3nicos y bailables.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bandas como <strong>New Order<\/strong> y <strong>The Smiths<\/strong>, que ya se hab\u00edan alejado del dramatismo oscuro del post punk, funcionaron como bisagras para dar paso a canciones m\u00e1s r\u00edtmicas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Aunque no hay una fecha exacta, se suele situar el auge de <em>Madchester<\/em> entre <strong>1986 y 1991<\/strong>. El gran arquitecto del movimiento fue <strong>Tony Wilson<\/strong>, fundador del m\u00edtico sello <strong>Factory Records<\/strong> y figura clave detr\u00e1s de <strong>Joy Division<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fue \u00e9l quien abri\u00f3 <strong>The Ha\u00e7ienda<\/strong>, la discoteca que se convirti\u00f3 en la cumbre del \u00e9xtasis y en un santuario de esa nueva mezcla de guitarras y sintetizadores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La llegada del house a Inglaterra se dio precisamente en Manchester. Algunos afirman que el propio Tony Wilson trajo los primeros vinilos desde Chicago e incluso hay quienes aseguran que el house lleg\u00f3 desde \u00c1msterdam, de la mano de distintas drogas sint\u00e9ticas que sellaron la est\u00e9tica y actitud del movimiento.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Esa simbiosis entre el pop brit\u00e1nico y la cultura rave dio origen al fen\u00f3meno <em>Madchester<\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El beat se aceler\u00f3. El sonido se volvi\u00f3 m\u00e1s discotequero, sin perder el tono \u00e1cido ni las guitarras.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bandas como <strong>The Stone Roses<\/strong>, <strong>James<\/strong>&nbsp; y <strong>Happy Mondays<\/strong> eran parte de un circuito local que reventaba salas antes de ser conocidos por todo el pa\u00eds. En <strong>1988<\/strong>, <strong>A<\/strong> <strong>Guy Called Gerald<\/strong> lanz\u00f3 <em>Voodoo Ray<\/em>, uno de los temas m\u00e1s emblem\u00e1ticos y bailables del movimiento.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Asimismo, el disco que condensa y profesionaliza todo lo que estaba pasando fue el debut hom\u00f3nimo en 1989 de <strong>The Stone Roses<\/strong>, \u00fanico en su tipo y un puente directo entre la m\u00fasica independiente inglesa y el rock brit\u00e1nico de los noventa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La explosi\u00f3n definitiva lleg\u00f3 cuando el legendario radiodifusor <strong>John Peel<\/strong> escribi\u00f3 un art\u00edculo titulado <em>&#8220;<\/em>Algo est\u00e1 pasando en Manchester<em>&#8220;<\/em>, y llev\u00f3 a esos artistas a las c\u00e9lebres <strong>Peel Sessions<\/strong> de la BBC. Si sal\u00edas ah\u00ed, eras tendencia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-text-subtitle is-style-text-subtitle--2\"><strong>El movimiento ya no era solo un fen\u00f3meno local: <em>Madchester<\/em> se hab\u00eda vuelto un grito nacional.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pero el mismo sistema que lo impuls\u00f3, lo devor\u00f3. Las grandes discogr\u00e1ficas vieron una oportunidad y empezaron a sobreproducir bandas, empaquetar el sonido y venderlo a escala. Lo que fue una revoluci\u00f3n espont\u00e1nea termin\u00f3 diluy\u00e9ndose en f\u00f3rmulas repetidas.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El sonido Madchester muri\u00f3 joven. Fue un momento de comuni\u00f3n entre lo electr\u00f3nico y lo alternativo, entre la pista de baile y la banda de garage, entre el ritmo y la psicodelia.
